Description
The Panj Takhat Yatra is a pilgrimage to the five most sacred seats of authority (Takhats) in Sikhism, each representing a cornerstone of Sikh history and governance. These Takhats are:
- Akal Takhat Sahib in Amritsar, Punjab – the highest seat of Sikh temporal authority.
- Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib, where the Khalsa was founded by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
- Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo, where Guru Gobind Singh Ji finalised the Sikh scriptures.
- Takhat Sri Patna Sahib in Bihar, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
- Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra, where Guru Gobind Singh Ji took his final journey.
This pilgrimage is deeply spiritual, reflecting the core tenets and history of the Sikh faith.
